I've Been Super Busy, and Lots of Stuff I Want to Post

but as a quick hit, I thought this was amusing:

Um, no. Starting with the ol' 33 is not a good way to get money from me.

Oh yeah-- also: the terr'ists are coming!

Guns are much easier to get in the US than in Europe, so why a commando-style attack there and not here? Especially with our "porous" borders. Doesn't make sense-- unless it's all bullshit.

PTB Trying to Shut Down Fusion Research?

No 33 here, but an odd 22 motif:
Many people who know P. Leonardo Mascheroni describe him as a maverick and a technology zealot. Now, the Justice Department will try to prove that he is dangerous, too — a man willing to sell atomic secrets in exchange for a chance to realize his dream.

Dr. Mascheroni, 75, is a nuclear scientist who has spent the 22 years since he left the Los Alamos National Laboratory trying to sell Congress, the scientific community, journalists — anyone who would listen, really, including this reporter — on his plan to build a giant laser for the achievement of nuclear fusion.

His plan earned respect and high-level endorsements, but the government chose a different path. Rather than give up, Dr. Mascheroni redoubled his campaign, sending out lengthy technical documents from his home in New Mexico to try to coax Washington to finance his laser.

“You’d get these fat FedEx packages,” said Steven Aftergood, a security expert at the Federation of American Scientists.

As he was snubbed by Congress and federal experts, Dr. Mascheroni, a naturalized citizen who was born in Argentina, grew increasingly frustrated and bitter. He became known in Washington for veiled threats to take his atomic expertise abroad unless the government backed his laser plan. He seemed to think that he could bully the federal establishment into big spending, according to people on the receiving end of his missives.

“He came at you like a force of nature,” recalled Matthew G. McKinzie, a former Los Alamos researcher who is now at the Natural Resources Defense Council, a private group in Washington. “He and his coterie of followers at Los Alamos believed his approach could provide a source of limitless, clean energy for humanity.”

A 22-count indictment against Dr. Mascheroni, made public on Sept. 17, quotes his wife, Marjorie, as saying that he would “make bombs” overseas “if they don’t listen to him in Washington.” She has been charged as a co-conspirator, and both of them have pleaded not guilty.

Dr. Mascheroni’s world began to crumble last October, when federal agents raided his home in Los Alamos, hauling away his computers and hundreds of paper files. When reached by phone, he said at the time that he was suspected of treason.

Clearly rattled, Dr. Mascheroni declared his innocence. He defended his actions, including his interactions with the man who had represented himself as a Venezuelan contact but who Dr. Mascheroni by then suspected — correctly — was actually an informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“It was a way of getting attention in Congress” and trying to prompt hearings on Capitol Hill about the nation’s fusion program, he said of his decision to talk with the would-be foreigner.

Ahmadinejad Says Some Logical Things, US Diplomats Act Like Children

The U.S. delegation left the hall after Ahmadinejad said there were three theories about the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks:

_That "powerful and complex terrorist group" penetrated U.S. intelligence and defenses.

_"That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime. The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view."

The Americans stood and walked out without listening to the third theory, that the attack was the work of "a terrorist group but the American government supported and took advantage of the situation."

Sigh. Decent message, wrong messenger. Have to wonder if Ahmadinejad is a secret agent who is part of the never ending 9/11 psyop...

"Terrorists"

Actual NYTimes headline:

Iranian Authorities Blame Attack on ‘Terrorists’

TEHRAN — An attack blamed by the Iranian authorities on “terrorists” on Wednesday killed nine people, mostly women and children, and left 20 injured during a military parade in the northwest of the country to mark the start of the Iran-Iraq war 30 years ago, state-controlled media reported on Wednesday.

How dare they blame terrorists! They must be LYING because THEY are the terrorists! Amirite???

FBI Frames Another Patsy

This is ridiculous:
A man arrested for allegedly placing a backpack he thought contained an explosive near the Chicago's Wrigley Field also talked about poisoning Lake Michigan, bombing a landmark skyscraper and assassinating Mayor Richard Daley, according to a federal complaint filed Monday.

Sami Samir Hassoun, 22, a Lebanese citizen living in Chicago, was charged with one count each of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted use of an explosive device.

(snip)

An FBI informant tipped investigators about Hassoun nearly a year ago, the agency said. Grant said Hassoun acted alone and that the undercover agents told him they were from California and unaffiliated with any group. He declined to offer specific details about Hassoun's motivations, but said believed the agents were ready to give him money if he carried out the attack.

Hassoun was arrested early Sunday after planting the fake explosive device — which was given to him by an undercover agent — in a trash receptacle near Sluggers World Class Sports Bar, a popular bar steps from Wrigley Field, Grant said.
(Emphasis added.) They said they would PAY the guy??? Jesus, that's pure entrapment.

Clearly, Obama WIll Be History's Biggest Monster

if he lets the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire.
These are terrible times for many people in this country. Poverty, especially acute poverty, has soared in the economic slump; millions of people have lost their homes. Young people can’t find jobs; laid-off 50-somethings fear that they’ll never work again.

Yet if you want to find real political rage — the kind of rage that makes people compare President Obama to Hitler, or accuse him of treason — you won’t find it among these suffering Americans. You’ll find it instead among the very privileged, people who don’t have to worry about losing their jobs, their homes, or their health insurance, but who are outraged, outraged, at the thought of paying modestly higher taxes.

The rage of the rich has been building ever since Mr. Obama took office. At first, however, it was largely confined to Wall Street. Thus when New York magazine published an article titled “The Wail Of the 1%,” it was talking about financial wheeler-dealers whose firms had been bailed out with taxpayer funds, but were furious at suggestions that the price of these bailouts should include temporary limits on bonuses. When the billionaire Stephen Schwarzman compared an Obama proposal to the Nazi invasion of Poland, the proposal in question would have closed a tax loophole that specifically benefits fund managers like him.

Now, however, as decision time looms for the fate of the Bush tax cuts — will top tax rates go back to Clinton-era levels? — the rage of the rich has broadened, and also in some ways changed its character.
Worth seeing this as an example of a really annoying whiny asshole complaining about taxes.

There are lots of reasons to be upset at Obama and the Democrats, but trying to bring some minimal level of fiscal sanity to the Federal govt isn't one of them.

Health and Food News

Bad enough that the FDA won't mandate that GM food be labeled as such, now they won't even allow non-GM food be labeled as GM-free. Fucking outrageous! Can you believe this idiocy?
David Edwards, director of animal biotechnology at the Biotechnology Industry Organization, told the Post that "extra labeling only confuses the consumer. ... It differentiates products that are not different.

And very scary news: Obama has approved CODEX via executive order. This is bad:
Right through the back door, while everyone was focused on the gulf oil spill, Barack Obama gave his signature to legislation permitting the U.S. Government to outlaw supplements and alternative health treatments.

That means that the supplements you take and therapies you use to keep your body healthy, can now be made illegal by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Obama quietly gave permission for Codex Alimentarius - the United Nation's worldwide plan for food standards - to take effect in the U.S. via Executive Order 13544 of June 10, 2010. The President's decision creates the National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council, a group of 'experts' that carry out whatever activities Obama deems appropriate.
More here.

Someone New for Mini-Nukes at the WTC

Interesting that they cite research from Judy Wood; not clear what that means exactly, but interesting. Certainly we've long thought here on this blog, that Wood's pictures best showed the effect of nukes.

"9/11U" was also cited in the nuke piece, though that person seems to not posit a clear mechanism of WTC destruction.

Overall, the piece is a bit odd-- what suddenly inspires someone to write something like that? While the author "Dennis" is certainly on the right track, it would have been much better if he cited Anonymous Physicist, than Judy Wood and Ed Ward.

Due Process for American Citizens Is for Losers-- Real Men Do Extrajudicial Assassination

I really don't know how these people in the Justice Department and the Executive Branch live with themselves.
... a Democratic DOJ is actually contemplating arguing to a judge that during wartime, the President can choose to kill anyone he wants to anywhere he wants to.

If the President kills someone, they’re preparing to argue, it’s legal.

Which gives (NYTimes reporter) Savage another opportunity to rely on a right wing lawyer to point out just how crazy are the arguments the Obama DOJ is contemplating. In this case, former W Administration official Matthew Waxman notes that even if it were true that the President can choose to kill whoever he wants where ever he wants during war, we’re not at war with Yemen!

Today's 33

Haiti is bummed: "By some estimates, the quake left about 33 million cubic yards of debris in Port-au-Prince — more than seven times the amount of concrete used to build the Hoover Dam. Today's 33

A textbook example:
ATLANTA — That photo of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. riding one of the first desegregated buses in Montgomery, Ala.? He took it. The well-known image of black sanitation workers carrying “I Am a Man” signs in Memphis? His. He was the only photojournalist to document the entire trial in the murder of Emmett Till, and he was there in Room 306 of the Lorraine Hotel, Dr. King’s room, on the night he was assassinated.

But now an unsettling asterisk must be added to the legacy of Ernest C. Withers, one of the most celebrated photographers of the civil rights era: He was a paid F.B.I. informer.

On Sunday, The Commercial Appeal in Memphis published the results of a two-year investigation that showed Mr. Withers, who died in 2007 at age 85, had collaborated closely with two F.B.I. agents in the 1960s to keep tabs on the civil rights movement. (snip)

A clerical error appears to have allowed for Mr. Withers’s identity to be divulged: In most cases in the reports, references to Mr. Withers and his informer number, ME 338-R, have been blacked out. But in several locations, the F.B.I. appears to have forgotten to hide them.

Explosive Flash Observed as South Tower Goes Down-- Three Different Camera Angles

Two camera angles shown here.

New camera angle here:

Whereas most of the explosives must have been in the interior of the tower, this one may have been critical to buckle the corner of the upper tower as it went down-- presumably to minimize the distance the upper chunk fell.

Whatever the case, there is clearly a small bright explosive flash associated with the tower going down.

UPDATE: Interesting that the explosion seems to be around the 90th floor-- conceivably the 92nd floor, where renovations were going on along with floor hit renovations prior to 9/11.

Yes, Burning Korans Is Very Very Bad

Twelve American soldiers face charges over a secret "kill team" that allegedly blew up and shot Afghan civilians at random and collected their fingers as trophies.

Five of the soldiers are charged with murdering three Afghan men who were allegedly killed for sport in separate attacks this year. Seven others are accused of covering up the killings and assaulting a recruit who exposed the murders when he reported other abuses, including members of the unit smoking hashish stolen from civilians.

In one of the most serious accusations of war crimes to emerge from the Afghan conflict, the killings are alleged to have been carried out by members of a Stryker infantry brigade based in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan.

According to investigators and legal documents, discussion of killing Afghan civilians began after the arrival of Staff Sergeant Calvin Gibbs at forward operating base Ramrod last November. Other soldiers told the army's criminal investigation command that Gibbs boasted of the things he got away with while serving in Iraq and said how easy it would be to "toss a grenade at someone and kill them".

One soldier said he believed Gibbs was "feeling out the platoon".

Investigators said Gibbs, 25, hatched a plan with another soldier, Jeremy Morlock, 22, and other members of the unit to form a "kill team". While on patrol over the following months they allegedly killed at least three Afghan civilians.
Thankfully, there was a whistleblower (unnamed) on this sickening behavior, and the Army is taking serious action. But still... how fucked up is this war???

One Last Holdout on a 9/11 Trial

Bravo, to these people:
In the nine years since Sept. 11, 2001, the legal claims for people who were injured or killed in the attacks have almost entirely been resolved. Thousands of victims and families entered a special compensation fund created by Congress and were paid more than $7 billion; a much smaller group chose to file lawsuits, which have been settled over time for about $500 million.

The name Mark Lawrence Bavis appears on the Sept. 11 memorial in the Boston Public Garden. He was 31 when he died.

All, that is, but one.

The holdout is the family of Mark Bavis, a passenger on United Airlines Flight 175, the second plane to strike the World Trade Center. Ever since the family filed suit in 2002, it has spurned efforts to negotiate, despite settlement attempts and a court mediation session.
Certainly, if I had a loved one on that bizarre ghost flight, I would want to know what the hell really happened to them. The article doesn't even touch upon conspiracies in the slightest way, but still, you gotta wonder what that family really thinks.

9/11: The Day Everything Changed

Nine-fucking-eleven.

The day that everything changed, yet a day that nothing really changed.

A day of horrible death, but hardly the first time people have died horribly.

A day of wild hoaxes and massive lies, yet the capacity of ordinary people to want to believe their leaders in a time of tragedy was the same as always.

A harsh new reality, but on the other hand, just an escalation of the old lies and old gestapo regime reality.

A day of new nuclear horror, yet hardly the first time humans were nuked by the US.

But one thing is for sure-- it is a day we can't forget, and its aftermath is hard to accept.

Nine-fucking-eleven.

110 Massive Floor Slabs-- Gone with Nary a Trace

I know this has been pointed out before here, and by others. But still, to me, this is incredibly striking evidence of demolition.

What do we see in the picture above? Lots of the outer skeleton of the tower, several gigantic core columns, lots of small shards of iron, lots of nondescript chunks of debris.

What is missing? Anything that is clearly from the inside of the tower-- including 110 huge floor slabs of concrete and iron supports. Sure, maybe many of them were ground into small pieces by the other pieces, and maybe many of them are neatly stacked up in the footprint of the tower. But seriously-- 110 massive floor slabs completely demolished or hidden on the bottom of the pile? It's absurd.

While some have gone so far as to say the towers were empty-- cleaned out before 9/11-- the more obvious explanation is devastatingly efficient demolition wiping out the inside, non-metal components of the towers-- and in fact, even many of the major iron components.

Of course, the most likely explanation for that devastatingly efficient demolition is many small nuclear bombs.

Oh wouldn't it be good if these simple truths could gain some traction in this crazy world?

What's Worse-- KIlling Muslims or Burning Korans?

Typically trenchant piece from Chris Floyd:
American policy, at the highest levels of state, is specifically and deliberately designed to kill, despoil, dispossess, insult and outrage Muslims, in operations all over the world. That's what the Terror War is all about. We have spent more than $3 trillion burning Korans -- and their readers -- in the last decade. This policy has been pushed, championed and cheered by virtually the entire bipartisan political and media establishments -- and by much of the religious establishment as well.

Yet this week we have been treated to the bleakly comic sight of the avatars of these very establishments expressing their deeply humanitarian concerns -- and their nostril-flaring moral outrage -- over the plans of a Florida religious crank to publicly burn a few Korans on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. These societal leaders -- such as Gen. David Petraeus and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- sternly warn us that such an act will inevitably produce violent blowback, stoke Islamic extremism and exacerbate anti-American feeling in the Muslim world.

Broken Records

It's somewhat depressing, though not too surprising, how many old links on this blog relating to 9/11 are broken. In a few cases, things I've posted here are the only real record of some of these findings on the net.

Case in point are these old posts on Devin Clark-- here and here. The second one is particularly striking to me, where Clark seemingly admits the videos are fake, and though the Pumpitout link of the interview still works, you can't find it through google or easily through the Pumpitout site.

Adding... after listening to the interview again, the Clark guy still sounds like a total perp. He gives a bunch of bullshit about not caring who did 9/11, is friends with people who put out a 9/11 conspiracy movie, admits that the videos were fake, says he could have easily faked them himself, says he gave his 2nd hit video to CNN but has a weak story... and Jeff Hill lets him off with "Take care" at the end.

Who Would Have Ever Predicted That Islamophobia Would Be Stronger Now Than After 9/11?

Never under-estimate the power of intel-driven right-wing agitators, I guess.

UPDATE: Someone emailed this to me, along with some HuffPo piece on Islamic propaganda.

But this--ZOMG! Muslins are taking over the world!!!!

The fact is that religious fanatics of any kind are creepy and evil as hell, be they muslim, jewish, christian, buddhist, animist or hindu. Yeah-- I'm sure there are some muslims who would like to take over the world, just like there are christians who'd like to do the same. I suppose muslims are somewhat "scarier" because there are so many of them throughout the world, but many of the claims made in this video are pure agitprop and could be made against religious/ethnic group at some stage in history.

Adding that the idea that Muslims are taking over the US in any way, or even close to advancing their cause significantly here, is sheer delusion.

Also, all religions ultimately suck.

Educated Deniers of 9/11 Inside Jobbery

I really don't mind much people who don't know the overwhelming evidence for 9/11 being an inside job because they are too stressed out with making a living, raising kids, too busy working, too poor to own a computer, or illiterate, etc. These people have an excuse. I can also understand people who realize there was a massive conspiracy, but who feel powerless to do anything about it.

What REALLY bugs me are the educated fucks like here, who write for or read the NYTimes, and have their heads totally in the sand. Granted, some of these people commenting are undoubtedly intel agents, but it's hard to believe all of them are. Plus, I have met a fair number of "educated" folks whose belief system won't allow them to consider a large secret conspiracy.

What drives me crazy are the people who rule out a conspiracy, a priori, without even looking at the evidence in detail. What can you even do with these people?

The Battle of Blair Mountain: Armed Insurrection by Workers

Some interesting history relevant to Labor Day:
The Battle of Blair Mountain was the largest open class war in US history, and was the second largest overall armed insurrection next to the Civil War. For five days in late August and early September 1921, in Logan County, West Virginia, between 10,000 and 15,000 coal miners confronted an army backed by coal operators in an effort to unionize the southwestern West Virginia coalfields. Their struggle ended only after approximately one million rounds were fired, and the US Army intervened by presidential order.

Further Thoughts on "The Simpsons Movie"

Just watched some of this 2007 movie on TV, and again, struck by how blatant the quarantine references are.

The new thoughts I just had were:

1) very interesting how a sinkhole (which have been in the news over the summer, e.g. here) was used as a method of quarantine escape by the Simpsons.

2) in the move, Homer can be thought of as the primordial evil creature responsible for the placing of the quarantine -- and he and his family escapes from the Q via the sinkhole.

3) interesting how the angry mob chases the "evil" Homer Simpson -- much in the way that humans should chase the evil ultimate PTB on earth. Also, interesting that the mob chases the Simpsons into a hole in the ground (the sinkhole)-- somewhat analogous to the idea that humans on earth have chased the ultimate PTB into deep underground bases.

UPDATE: One other interesting meme in the movie is the Alaska theme, given the strong Alaska theme in national politics that appeared afterward, in 2008, with Sarah Palin.

On The Issue of Possibly Radoactive Clothes or Boots at Ground Zero, After 9/11

By The Anonymous Physicist

There is at least one problem with hosing down clothes or boots that might be radioactive, on workers while they are wearing them. Pressurized hosing could readily kick up particles that the subject might then inhale or ingest. And the worst thing you could do with radionuclides is inhale or ingest them, because they are then in the body emitting their radiation. And if the subject is not wearing some great mask or respirator to prevent inhalation or ingestion, it is defeating the purpose of preventing harm to the subject. Unless there is another purpose. And of course, I hold this murderous regime couldn’t care less about anyone, including responders. But hiding the China Syndrome at the WTC had, AND STILL HAS, their highest priority. (Thus all the bogus nuclear 9/11 theories that don’t give rise to the CSA.)

Regarding boots, we should also not forget that I have cited many responders/witnesses saying how their boots soon needed to be replaced as they were melted. Even dogs had to wear special boots because of the temperature of what they were walking on. And I have long asserted that it was hot, not just in temperature.

Some answers in this matter are available in my books at www.anonymousphysicist.com

I have written about WTC responder Sgt. Matthew Tartaglia. Some of this is also available here: http://covertoperations.blogspot.com/2007/08/by-anonymous-physicist-sgt.html

When interviewed by Alex Jones, Tartaglia noted that certain areas were off-limits to nearly all responders, and stated or implied that those allowed in certain areas had to be prepared to leave their clothes there when leaving for the day. This makes more sense than hosing down radioactive boots on a subject who is not wearing a special mask. Even penetraton of the skin is an issue with hosing. Of course, there were many non-nuclear toxins present that were harmful to responders, clouding this issue.

The Jones interview is here: http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/march2005/300305newrevelations.htm

Note also how when Tartaglia opines that only tactical nukes could have done what was done to the WTC, Jones changes the subject, instead of following up. I don’t think he had him on again. Showing how Jones—while purporting to want to take down the US Regime— does everything he can to actually prevent that from happening.

So the scenario from this Anonymous Physicist of what happened after 9/11 would be the following. FEMA or (other) intel agents, knowing what the mass-murdering US regime did to its own people— nuked the WTC and knowingly created a China Syndrome— soon after 9/11, tested to see where radioactive hotspots were. This was also probably done— even on 9/11 itself—from planes and satellites. The radioactive hotspots then were verboten (off-limits)— as best as possible— to most workers. Those that went in, or on, certain areas had to leave their clothes and boots that day. Not because the regime cared about how many responders they would kill, but because this was the only way to keep radioactive evidence from leaving the crime scene.

And kudos to Tartaglia! Sad that his hair and teeth fell out from his radiation exposure. His tactical nukes hypothesis is dead on. And Tartaglia’s “tactical nukes” are not any fanciful, imaginary “fourth generation, pure fusion nukes,” but dependable, small fission nukes! If Jones were not a perp himself, maybe everyone would know about the nuking of the WTC and the subsequent China Syndrome!

My newest book is here: http://www.anonymousphysicist.com/911_Q_Updated.htm

The BP Oil Didn't Magically Disappear-- and a New Disaster

In Pensacola no less!
Despite persistent denials from BP last week, thousands of pounds of weathered oil is being pulled from under the surface of Pensacola Bay every day.

During more than a dozen interviews last week, BP officials and spokespeople for a number of government agencies working on the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill response denied knowledge of oil in the bay.

Even as they spoke, however, Escambia County officials and local fishermen were reporting finding weathered oil, as they've been doing for weeks. BP's own crews were hand-scooping it up, and a submerged-oil team from BP's Deepwater Horizon Response Incident Command Post in Mobile was investigating.
And it should go without saying, but I will say it anyway, that the true environmental impact of the BP spill is totally unknown right now-- but is likely horrible.

And a new rig has exploded, though the claim is that there is no leak with this one:
An offshore oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico that exploded Thursday did not leak a significant amount of oil into the water, the Coast Guard said.

All 13 rig workers donned bright orange survival gear — known as "Gumby suits" — and scrambled into the Gulf after the explosion. They were rescued by a supply ship, Coast Guard Capt. Peter Troedsson said. None were seriously injured.

The owner of the oil and gas platform, Mariner Energy of Houston, reported that a mile-long slick was visible on the water near the rig. When the Coast Guard reached the scene a short time later there was no evidence of any leaks, Troedsson said.

"The boats and the aircraft on scene cannot see a sheen," he said.

(snip) The Vermilion Oil Rig 380 that exploded Thursday sat in 340 feet of water and was approved to collect oil and gas from existing wells, according to the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement. It was undergoing maintenance and was not producing at the time of the accident.

Geiger Counter?

By any chance, is the guy on the right holding a Geiger counter? It looks like it could be one to me. It seems to have a cord coming from the top probe-like part in the guy's hand. This is best seen if you go to 3:16 here and blow up to full screen size. The thing doesn't look like any ordinary tool or flashlight, to me. I did a google image search for Geiger counters and didn't see anything like this, but that doesn't rule it out. It doesn't look like a respirator-- certainly not like the ones guys in the other pics are wearing.

Here is a close-up view of the item:

If it IS a Geiger counter, this could be incredible proof of radiation at Ground Zero.

Interestingly, boot scrubbing was NOT a unusual thing as shown by this pic:

UPDATE: This EPA article describes washing stations for GZ workers, and has a pic similar to the washing station in the top pic. But it's not exactly clear from the piece why they need to scrub boots so thoroughly. It's a bit bizarre.

UPDATE 2: While I can't say for sure that the guy is holding a Geiger counter (it still looks roughly like one with possibly some photo alteration to mask its full form-- there looks like some funny business in the blow up), on the other hand, it may be unlikely that anyone would blatantly measure radiation at ground zero like this. Any measurements would likely have been done more surreptitiously so as to not get people talking.

"Obama Could Have Been More Gracious to Bush and the Surge"

If you can get past the nauseating psychopathic babble of the Bush administration lackeys in the beginning here, Jeremy Scahill makes some good points about the Iraq war-- and GRACIOUSLY points out the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who died as a result of the US-led invasion. What Scahill didn't say, is that another reason "the surge" "worked" is that the US BOUGHT OFF many of the insurgents at the same time as troop numbers went up. What also can't be pointed out enough is that Iraq is a horrendous mess now.

But I guess the important thing is that we have our own installed Iraqi leader (until he goes rogue at some appointed time and needs to be removed), we have our non-permanent permanent military bases in Iraq, and we have our super-duper luxury embassy in Baghdad. All the money spent, all the lives wasted, all just amusement for the PTB and something for silly ordinary humans to fret about.
